Strength In Numbers

Campaign H.Q.

Why are Production Accountants signing Union cards?

Signing a union authorization card is the first step toward securing a collective bargaining agreement. Unlike other IATSE crafts, Accountants are not represented in the Basic Agreement. No representation means most Accountants are forced to bargain contracts on their own, project to project.

Now, Production Accountants in IATSE Local 871 are organizing: We know we have Strength in Numbers. This is our campaign to fix the problem of under representation.

We cannot gain recognition through bargaining alone.

While IATSE has demanded AMPTP recognize Production Accountants in every bargaining period going back decades, U.S. labor law allows the studios to simply say “no.” Organizing is how Accountants can break this status quo.

Our goal is to collect signatures for union authorization cards from every member of the Accounting craft. All workers in Production Accounting departments are eligible to sign cards, including (but not limited to):

  • Production accountants
  • First assistant accountants
  • Second assistant accountants
  • Payroll accountants
  • Assistant payroll accountants
  • Post accountants
  • Accounting clerks

If you have worked any of these roles in the last 18 months, sign a card today!
